The St. Michael's Outreach Committee consists of parishioners actively involved in leadership of our outreach initiatives. We meet to discuss ongoing projects, identify needs and plan for future action. Parishioners are invited to present their ideas to the committee for review and possible endorsement as a parish initiative. Monies made through parish fundraisers are earmarked to support parish outreach, as well as both diocesan and national church outreach programs. Our goals reflect our commitment to ongoing community support.

Le Chef
St. Michael’s has a new outreach program called Le Chef and will be providing meals to local shelters. Le Chef was originally developed by a local restaurateur who, working with volunteers from Metrowest Harvest, provided dinnertime meals to local shelters. The program has been dormant for a couple years and St. Michael's was invited to revive it. Currently we are planning on providing meals to the Clinton House in Framingham on a monthly basis, but there are other shelters in the area that could also benefit from this volunteer effort. If you are interested in joining this program please contact Win Hagen.

B-SAFE Summer Camp Program
St. Michael’s sponsors a week of the B-SAFE Summer Camp Program for one week in late June every summer. The B-SAFE program was started three years ago by our bishops and offers academic, athletic and social activities to inner city Boston children who otherwise would spend the summer on the street. The camp program is held at four locations. St. Michael's helps at Epiphany School in Dorchester, where the program serves some 5th graders from Epiphany as well as many other children from the neighborhood.
St. Michael’s parishioners prepare lunch and snacks and read to the children each day and oversee a field trip to Hopkinton State Park. For more information in helping with this program, which is fun and rewarding for all, please contact Theresa Campbell.

Appalachia Project
We have collected and shipped children's books (kindergarten through high school) plus clean stuffed animals to Appalachia for more than 8 years. The books have contributed to a higher level of reading for the children since very few books were available to them in the past. The stuffed animals are distributed as gifts for handicapped and sick children and as holiday gifts. If you would like to help in any way or just learn more please see Anke Geurtsen at church.

Westborough State Hospital
Our recent outreach initiative is ministry to the residents at Westboro State Hospital. We have adopted two of the quarter-way houses, Liberty and Renaissance Houses, where residents live before moving to half-way houses in the outside community. We host a Christmas party that includes, carol singing, lunch and gifts for the residents. In late spring, we host a cookout that has also included line dancing, and other entertainment. For more information speak with Win Hagen.
